Cañada del Saucar to Puntal de la Misa Hiking Route

Cañada del Saucar to Puntal de la Misa Hiking Route

This is one of the most impressive walking routes in the Segura mountains. As you progress upwards, vegetation becomes scarcer, finally being reduced to a sparse copse of laburnum. However, when you reach the top of the limestone crag you will find yourself in the magnificent and inspiring surroundings of the Segura highlands: an enormous limestone shelf, 5 kilometres long, with pastures grazed by flocks of Segura sheep and pockmarked with sinkholes (called sorbeores by locals), hidden watercourses and rocky escarpments.

El Pilarillo to Cumbre de Peñalta Hiking Route

This route begins close to Pilarillo Forest House and ends at Peñalta peak. For much of the way it passes through forests of European black pine, beneath which is a dense undergrowth of holm oak, kermes oak, gall oak, cistus and aromatic plants such as rosemary, thyme and lavender. Broom can be found in the rockier areas.

Navalcaballo to El Robledo Forest Trail

This forest trail is 20 kilometres long and begins at the Navalcaballo beauty spot, descending through a large forest of Corsican pine to the hamlet of El Robledo, close to the farms at Cortijos Nuevos. We recommend walking the first few kilometres from Navalcaballo: you can enjoy the magnificent views towards the hamlets of Los Royos and Moralejos and appreciate the groves of oak that flourish under the canopy of pines.

Prado de Juan Ruiz Forest Trail

Prado de Juan Ruiz Forest Trail

This is an extremely long forest trail that ends at the hamlet of La Donal in the province of Albacete. It is usually in good condition, although certain sections may not be suitable for traversing in cars that are not four-wheel drive. We suggest following the trail to the hamlet of Prado de Juan Ruiz, a journey of approximately 13.5 kilometres: you will be assured of pleasant views and will pass through areas that are among the most important in the park in botanical terms.
