Bujaraiza Castle

Bujaraiza Castle

This small fortress was built by the Moors on a hill, which became an island when the water levels in the reservoir rose. As a result, the castle has a certain charm, despite its poor state of conservation. It can be observed from the Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente viewing point at kilometre 60.5.

Of particular interest is the castle keep, situated inside the courtyard. When water levels in the reservoir are low, it is worth taking a walk across to the castle from the aforementioned viewing point.

LOCATION

Carretera A-319, on top of the hill/island of Cabeza de la Viña.
